1. To see if there are still any collecting areas around the Deer Trail Mine. This mine resumed gold and silver operations a few years ago and I just want to check out if there is still anywhere we can go.

I went to two sites found in the Gem Trails of Utah book, under the title of San Rafael:
First, we went to a site 4.2 miles south of I-70 on I-24. At that point, you find a road leading north off the highway. We drove that road for a 1/2 mile, parked, and searched the area. This year; late Oct. early Nov. I am heading to NM and will have a week to wander back home. I have a stop planned just north of Flagstaff and will be entering Utah near Kanab and leaving thru Idaho. I am copying the locations listed on the main page and have ordered a Utah map. So any hot leads?
