I spent some time this weekend at mt carmel in Kane county, My family has a ranch between mt carmel and zions. I was digging through the bank of an old wash
and found several small star shaped fossils about a 1/8 of an inch in size. they were found in stacks of 2-8. I will try to get a picture of them posted. In
the mean time i was wondering if anyone knows what they are?

During a recent trip to the green river area I found what appears to be a gastrolith, made from red agatized petrified wood. I found it in an area littered with dino bone and other gastro's. Has any one ever heard or seen of such a specimen? think of what this means, if correct, it's a kind of double fossil! I love to think of a dino, eating 250 millon year wood and 250 millon years later I found it!

I'm planning a trip tomorrow towards Topaz mtn. I've read a blog or two on the trilobites in the Drums. My question is does anyone have any info on finding any locations there?
I know a few spots for collecting in the House Range. But since it's closer to Tooele...and Topaz is a great spot for collecting it would be nice to hit both spots during the day.

Thanks Bob

Hey everyone....Nice to have some decent weather here finally! Instead of sitting at home wishing we were collecting....took a couple of photos of some material from southern Utah......The inherent color of yellow in the petrified wood from near the Henry Mountains is some of the most bright yellow found in any petrified wood. The other photo is of a multitude of tracks from smaller animals from the Triassic times.......There are over 90 tracks on the plate, it measures 5 foot by 4...
